It’s Official! Spiderman is Joining Marvel Cinematic Universe

A very very very great news for all Spidey and Marvel fans!

Finally, after some speculations about the web-slinger joining MCU, now, Marvel has make it official that Sony and Marvel Studios under Disney, will join together to produce future Spiderman movie and make the possibility for Spiderman to make appearance on future Marvel movies.

“I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie. Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world’s most beloved characters. Marvel’s involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU. I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years.” – Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige.

While the news is exactly exciting for the fans, another report, even though it wasn’t an official report, stated that Andrew Garfield may be out as Peter Parker. Spiderman most likely will make his first appearance in third instalment Captain America movie, Captain America : Civil War, given that in the comic, Spiderman is quite an integral part of the storyline. But, it’s possible for Spiderman to make appearance in MCU before Civil War.

So, are you excited to see Spiderman teaming up with the Avengers in the future? What do you think?

Black Widow Confirmed for Captain America : Civil War

Seems like the third instalment of The First Avenger movie, Captain America : Civil War will be more crowded with more superheroes. After Robert Downey Jr. will join Steve Roger on his third solo movie, Black Panther will make his debut on screen appearance, Winter Soldier, Falcon, and possibly Crossbones returned, now, the Russo’s brother, directors of Captain America : The Winter Soldier, confirmed that we will see more Scarlett Johansson as the Russian spy a.k.a Black Widow on Captain America : Civil War.

We’ve been preparing for the movie since the last one debuted last year,” Anthony Russo said. “So, we’ve been working on it for a long time now. We’re very happy how it’s coming along. Captain America 3 is going to be called Captain America: Civil War,and it’s going to star Chris Evans. Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film.

Agent Romanov presence shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. She played a major role on The Avengers movie and Captain America : The Winter Soldier, and she seems to fit in on the Civil War story that surrounding the conflict between Tony Stark and Steve Roger. We don’t know yet whether she will stand by Tony Stark as pro Superhero Registration Act, or against the act just like Steve Rogers.

Captain America : Civil War opens May 6, 2016.

Marvel Would Like To Fresh Start With Spiderman?

Latino – Review reported that if Sony / Marvel deal of co-operating Spiderman by splitting 60/40 cost of productions, Andrew Garfield would no longer be Peter Parker and any baggage from existing films, Raimi or Webb, would be non-canonical. Marvel wants a fresh start with Spiderman story. The idea is that the Spiderman romance movie has been played out over five installments, so any new Spiderman would focus on the difficulties of being a teenager and a superhero with a romance side-story. Marvel thinks that the origin story is well-trodden territory, so any Spiderman movies under this deal would begin with Peter Parker already leading a dual life. Spiderman making his debut in Captain America 3: Civil War is still a possibility and would serve as the character’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As for now, it was reported that Captain America 3‘s script has nailed down and it was rumoured that Black Panther will take Spiderman’s role in civil war. But, Spiderman cameo can still happen in the movie if the deal could reach the agreement.

What do you think? Do you think Marvel should start Spiderman with “clean slate”?

amazing-spider-man-andrew-garfieldI am a big fan of Spiderman. In my opinion, Andrew Garfield was the best Peter Parker and Spiderman on screen by far. His Spiderman deserved so much better than only having two movies. He was the least cause of the failure of the first and second Amazing Spiderman‘s movies. He did amazing job with the character with his snark and goofiness as Spiderman. Maybe, it just the character was not really well written. I hope, if the deal happens, they will give Andrew Garfield another chance to prove that his Spiderman is worth enough to be on MCU.

Another scenario, if Marvel really wants to reboot Spiderman, it’s okay. Let them reboot the story but just keep Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. A new story but same casts. Or, if Spiderman only will be a cameo on Captain America 3, they still can use Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman. They don’t need to tell any story about him and just have him swinging around and make cameo on one or two scene. In conclusion, I love to see Spiderman joining Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I don’t want them to let Andrew Garfield go. Those were just my opinion as fans. We still need to wait for further confirmation from both Sony and Marvel about this matter.

Spiderman on Joining Captain America : Civil War. Happening or Just a Dream?

Recent hacked Sony’s email confirmed that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have had discussion about bringing Spiderman into MCU by making his appearance in Captain America 3 : Civil War. Nevertheless, it appears that the discussion broke down and Sony will retain the rights of Spiderman for time being. The Wall Street Journal reported that Sony Pictures president, Doug Belgrad, told Sony Motion Pictures chief, Amy Pascal, about a potential scenario that would be Marvel produce a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies, while Sony retains creative control, marketing, and distribution. In separate email, Ms. Pascal told a business partner that Marvel wanted to include the web slinger in Civil War movie. Because of some reasons, Marvel and Sony could not reach the agreement and make Peter Parker still living in separate universe from the Avengers.

But recently, a new report from Latino-Review  claimed that the deal between Marvel and Sony might still be alive. Sony may be reconsidering their position with Marvel and Spiderman, in light of the attention that the hacking debacle has placed on them. Instead of bringing back Spidey to Marvel, Sony and  Marvel wee trying to co-production effort where 60% of production costs will be paid by Marvel, and 40% goes to Sony. In exchange, Marvel could reclaim creative control over Spider-Man and allow him to crossover into Marvel movies like Captain America 3: Civil War.

Now that the broken deal has been revealed to Sony Pictures’ parent, Sony, Latino-Review’s sources said that the higher higher ups think that a partnership is still possible. Big Sony is none-too pleased with Sony Pictures’ leaked plans for the Spider-Man franchise, and is now thinking that instead of gambling with a franchise that could embarrass the company further, it might be easier to jump into Marvel and cut their losses.

Sony’s latest Spiderman movie, The Amazing Spiderman 2, did not really do well in box office. Now, Sony’s main concern is to produce “quality” films. Marvel has been doing much better job at doing that, leading Sony to believe relinquishing a cinematic Spider-Man to steadier hands is worth the creative and financial sacrifice.

So, what do you think? Do you really believe that a crossover might still happen? Would you like to see Andrew Garfield reprise his role in MCU? Or you think the other actor might be more suitable for the role?
